Florentino wants Zidane as Ancelotti's assistant

The Real Madrid president is keen to bring the ex-player back on board. Zizou coincided with Ancelotti at Juventus between 1999 and 2001.

Carlo Ancelotti is the best placed candidate to take over the reins at Real Madrid should José Mourinho leave for Chelsea this summer. The Italian coach has already held talks with Florentino Pérez via his agent, Ernesto Bronzetti and AS learned this week that the president is keen to enlist Zinedine Zidane as Ancelotti's aide-de-camp.

Ancelotti coached Zidane during his spell at Juventus between 1999 and 2001, just before the French midfielder joined Real Madrid on a deal worth 75 million euros.

Zidane has remained close to the president, who considered him trustworthy enough to be handed the role of Director of Football in 2011. But Zizou never really managed to work in tandem with Mourinho and eventually quit the post to continue studying for his coaching diploma.
