El Real Madrid a costa de Mourinho

La diferencia entre lo que unos y otros líderes consiguen es abismal. Un líder puede tanto favorecer el éxito como dirigir el camino al fracaso. No hace mucho tiempo, Javier Aguirre dirigía a la Selección Nacional. Al pensar en líderes del fútbol mexicano, su nombre resalta en la memoria. Recuerdo su forma aguerrida de jugar, una especie de lucha incesante en el terreno de juego. Muy especialmente recuerdo aquella imagen después del golazo de Negrete contra Bulgaria en el Estadio Azteca: Aguirre dando aquel tirón de pelo para que Negrete regresara al partido, mientras todos deseábamos prolongar la belleza estética de esa tijera. Hoy creo que fue Aguirre el único que veía que, aún con ese gol, el partido estaba muy lejos de ganarse. Me impresiona, todavía hoy, su consistencia al ir paso a paso, esa concentración por lo que deseaba: seguir luchando hasta ganar el partido.

En el último mundial, Javier Aguirre, ya como técnico, decidió alinear a Adolfo "el Bofo" Bautista, y fue severamente criticado por esa decisión. Después de ese partido, México quedó eliminado, pero hoy creo que de las pocas alternativas que tenía México para poder ganarle a Argentina, equipo con el mejor jugador del mundo, era precisamente tener al Bofo en el campo. El único jugador mexicano que ha puesto a la Bombonera -el estadio de Boca- de cabeza es precisamente el Bofo Bautista, cuando hasta el técnico del Boca Juniors perdió los papeles y fue a escupirle a la cara. Por supuesto Javier vio esto antes que yo, posiblemente antes que nadie, ya hace más de 2 años. El resultado de aquel partido no le dio el triunfo a Aguirre, pero a mí lo que me gusta de este señor es que tiene la claridad del líder. Encuentra una visión y se atreve a luchar e ir por ella. Hace dos semanas nadie apostaba porque le sacara un empate en el Bernabéu al Madrid de Mourinho. Yo estoy convencido de que Javier tenía una visión.

Al observar los inicios de Mourinho y pensar en su fórmula para tantos éxitos, me parece que era también un hombre con la capacidad de aclarar la visión a sus jugadores y, mucho más importante, hacerlos creer a ellos; poco a poco, paso a paso y con una visión en mente. Las cosas parecen haber cambiado y Mourinho haber perdido el piso al permitirse inflar el ego y creerse él mismo más equipo que cualquier equipo. ¿Hasta cuándo seguirá el Madrid dándole poder a un hombre obnubilado? "Yo soy el elegido", ha dicho. ¿Elegido para acabar con uno de los mejores equipos del fútbol europeo? Es lamentable oír las declaraciones de Mourinho después de un partido del Real Madrid; cuando pierde es porque los árbitros, la federación y el Barça están en su contra; cuando gana es porque ÉL es el elegido. Me asusta pensar en lo que ha perdido el madridismo con hombres cegados por el éxito mediático. Lo que hoy se ve en sus partidos acerca a este equipo a la descomposición de una imagen que mucho le había costado construir.

Me atrevo a decir que Mourinho no es el único culpable de esta deformación. Hace muchos años que Florentino se está encargando de lo mismo, pensando que lo único importante es ganar, y parece no importarle el cómo. Sin embargo, el cómo ganes es la diferencia entre un grupo y un equipo; es la diferencia que permite la creación de identidad, porque la identidad sólo se construye al defender valores. Parece que nada de esto les preocupa, pero en algún momento les llegará el agua al cuello, y les aclarará el panorama con los únicos conceptos que entienden: los económicos. Cuando los equipos pierden capital al no tener aficionados que consuman sus partidos y productos recurren asustados a la búsqueda del corazón de los aficionados.
